Boy Soldiers

This is my visualising activity about War.  I had to draw a picture that was in my mind.

Peace Sense Poem

I am learning to write a Poem about Peace One Day using my senses.
I am so proud of being able to describe what Peace feels like, tastes like and sounds like.
It can be tricky to describe the senses.
My buddy can help me by giving me some ideas.
The next step for me in my learning is to write another Peace Poem.

Its 3.45am and we are under the cover of darkness.  I’m in the landing boat crammed in like a can of sardines.”BOOM! My heart was pounding.  I was shaking all over.  I couldn’t move.  I was frozen with fear.  Suddenly there was a massive flash of light.

Bang! I could smell everyone's fear.  I want to get out of this boat to shoot people.  I was holding onto my gun firmly.  I tried to shoot  but my gun wasn't working.

We were about one kilometre away from the landing zone.  I felt an incredible pain in my leg. I  ducked down to dodge the bullets. One bullet flew past my ear. We heard soldiers screaming from the other boats shouting “HELP US, HELP US!” as they were drowning in the sea.

I knew we were the last survivors……..

I am learning to write an interesting recount.
I am so proud of making my recount interesting by using similes and adjectives.
It can be tricky to the right adjectives for the right sentence.
My buddy can help me by checking my work.
The next step for me in my learning is to find an interesting topic for me to write about.

Percentage and Fractions

Screen Shot 2014-09-17 at 1.38.18 PM.pngProblem Solving Task

I am learning to solve problems by using my understanding of the equivalence between percentages and fractions.

50% of the class (30)=15 are girls.

20% of the girls (15)=3 have short hair so 12 have long hair because 15-3=12

Percentages and Fractions Reflection

I am learning to solve problems by using my understanding of the equivalence between percentages and fractions.

I am so proud of being able to work out percentage and fraction problems by myself. It can be tricky to work out the answer.
My Teacher can help me with this problem if I get stuck.
The next step for me in my learning is to do a Stage 7 question by myself.

Peace One Day Action

As part of  our Inquiry work on Peaceful Communities we have been  learning about World Peace Day  on September 21st. On Friday 19th September we held a Taster Shared Lunch with Rooms  19 and 22.   We  had to bring in a small sample of a food that we might eat at home as a family favourite  or a food from our culture.  This helps us to learn about each other’s cultures and about tolerance of others.

Plastic Good or Bad ?

                        Plastics are Bad

Plastic is bad because animals eat plastic and can die because people throw away the plastic and animals can eat the plastic.  Plastic kills fish, turtles, seals, and other animals too. Animals eat anything in the sea like plastic bags and all sorts of things. They think it is food.Screen Shot 2014-09-05 at 1.23.35 PM.pngScreen Shot 2014-09-05 at 1.43.39 PM.png
If fish eat plastic and we eat fish it means we eat plastic too.

Screen Shot 2014-09-05 at 1.28.51 PM.pngThis is what happens when people don’t throw away their rubbish in the bin.  This is what happens to animals if you throw away plastic. If you find any plastic lying on the ground pick it up and throw it in the rubbish bin.

I hope you learned about how plastic is bad.
